Nicholas Braun is one of the breakout stars from the hit show Succession as cousin Greg, the hapless Roy relative who attempts to integrate him with the machinations of America’s richest, most complicated family. However, Nicholas’ real-life family is just as interesting, as his father is a hugely well-known figure. Find out more…
Nicholas is the son of Craig Braun, a well-known graphic designer, music executive and producer who was integral for some iconic moments in the music industry, including the Rolling Stones’ infamous tongue logo. He also made album covers alongside Andy Warhol, and was the designer of the logo for The Carpenters.
Craig, who also turned to acting in his 50s, starred in Erotic Fire of the Unattainable back in 2021 as a literary agent, Nelson. Nicholas has spoken about his father in an interview for GQ, revealing that he helped train him as an actor.
He explained: “He would try and make me do the Meisner technique. It was really fun—he was coaching me as though it was a sport.”
Nicholas previously starred in Disney hits including Sky High and Princess Protection Program before auditioning for Succession. Speaking about his audition, the show’s creator Jesse Armstrong told GQ: “It was always clear from the audition that Nick was going to be very funny as Greg. He’s got such a great combination of vulnerability and also slight entitlement and weird thrusting confidence. He’s gauche, but it’s gaucheness with a purpose.”

Speaking about the inspiration for his role, Nicholas told Jimmy Kimmel: “Greg was a bit bumbly… but I read it and I kind of understood it, then I went to a friend’s wedding and there was a guy on the dancefloor dancing recklessly like a pure soul - not to the beat. I was like, ‘That’s so Greg!’ He’s just a sweet guy having fun dancing.
“I was also taking care of a dog when I got the part… and he would follow me around and look at me and he was like, ‘Is it okay that I’m in here with you?’ He wanted to be with me but he wanted permission to be with me, and that was Greggy.”
